Lelo Hugo 2 Remote Prostate Massager Review
A luxurious prostate massage β¨
The Lelo Hugo 2 Remote is a vibrating prostate massager that caught my eye. Why? It comes with a motion-sensing remote control π! If you prefer app-controlled toys, there is also an app-controlled Hugo 2 available.
Not having tried any of Lelo's toys so far, I was excited and curious at this opportunity. Let's dig in!
Lelo has been kind enough to provide the Lelo Hugo 2 Remote in exchange for an honest review. Affiliate links in this review help support me with running costs, as always β I am truly grateful for your support π₯°.
Packaging
Out of the many sex toys I've opened up, the packaging felt truly luxurious π. The unwrapping of the Hugo 2 Remote felt like an intimate experience by itself.
The box has outstanding hygiene seal stickers, something all sex toy brands should be taking note of. It can't be tampered with unlike the usual plastic tapes.
What's included in the box? You'll get:
- The Hugo 2 prostate massager
- The remote control
- 2 AAA batteries
- A plastic tool to open up the remote control and replace batteries without scratching it
- A small manual/flyer
- Lubricant sachet
- Warranty registration card
- USB charging cable
- Soft carrying pouch
Shape
The shape of the Lelo Hugo 2 Remote is precisely what I'd expect when I hear the word prostate massager. A bulbous plug that clearly aims at the prostate, with an extended part for perineum stimulation.
Your mileage may vary with prostate stimulation, but slipping in the Hugo 2, I could immediately feel the pressure on the prostate. I did find myself pushing and squeezing it with my muscles to get it slightly deeper for an even more pin-pointed stimulation.
When moving around a lot or with heavy vibrations it tends to want to slip out. Walking around is totally fine though, but during heavy movements like sex it can be a challenge to keep it in π !
Size
The dimensions on the official product page are a bit confusing. It mentions 1.6"/4.1cm without specifying what that means - is is the max. diameter or how was it measured?
Let's clear that up, below are my own measurements:
Since the Hugo 2 isn't perfectly round, the width varies depending on the angle. To make it clear, I'll measure the maximum width.
Max. Width: 1.3"/3.3cm
Max insertable length: 3.9-4.3"/10-11cm depending on how you measure the curve
Remote control measurements (not insertable):
Width: 2.5"/6.5cm
Thickness: 1"/2.5cm
This is a very reasonable size, not too large for getting started, and still very enjoyable for intermediate players π!
Features
The Hugo 2 remote comes with a Sensemotion remote which reacts based on movements of the remote control.
SenseMotion Remote
It takes a few minutes to learn how the remote works since it is different from most other sex toy remotes. Once you try it a few times you'll get the hang of it.
There is a mode in which the vibration intensifies as you tilt the remote. Horizontal is no vibration, and fully vertical is full vibration. This allows for an easy and accurate control of the vibration strength - lots of fun when you give the remote control to your partner π!
The most exciting is the mode where it vibrates whenever the remote moves. My partner loves shaking the remote as it's just so fun to do, and gives great pleasure. It opens up many ways to play with it, for example public play π!
The vibrations coming from the motion do come up in a gradual way to avoid sudden overstimulation I would assume, but do take into account there is a slight delay. Nevertheless, my partner still has lots of fun taking the remote - which is a win for me!
It's a great way to introduce a prostate butt plug into a relationship playfully.
The remote comes with a small plastic key to easily open up the battery compartment without scratching it:
The remote.. also vibrates!
Yes that's right! The remote control also vibrates and can be used as foreplay and to let your partner feel exactly how their movements translate to vibrations. This is a nice touch that makes controlling the Hugo 2 so much easier π!
The vibrations on the remote are however not as discreet as the Hugo 2 itself.
The remote takes 2x AAA batteries. I would have preferred to see a USB rechargeable remote, but it is easy to get rechargeable AAA batteries so it's not a big deal.
App controlled?
If you get the Lelo Hugo 2 Remote version, it cannot be controlled with the app. If you get the regular Hugo 2 (without a remote), it will be compatible with the Lelo app. It's important to know this before you get yours!
This wasn't clear to me. I expected the remote version to also be controllable via the app and offer some interactive features. I tried to connect it to the app many times until I realized it was not possible π€·.
Battery Life
According to Lelo, 2 hours π. While I don't have a way to check this accurately, the battery kept on going during my tests.
As for the remote, I popped in 2x AAA, and I haven't had to recharge them yet.
Long-Term Wear
The neck on the Hugo 2 isn't too large, so this plug could work well for medium-long term wear, but with long-term wear it might tend to slip out as you get more relaxed.
Noise Level
Measuring right next to the plug with ambient room levels of 30dB, here are the results:
Medium vibrations: 65dB
High vibrations: 80dB
The low vibrations are really quiet, while the high vibrations can get quite loud. As long as you keep it on the low settings, the Hugo 2 can be discreet.
However, when pairing with the motion sensing remote, you'll want your partner not to shake it too much with public play, otherwise you could be heard! Careful control of the vibration modes can be more tricky with the Hugo 2. Perhaps there is more fine-grained control with the app version of the Hugo 2?
To really understand what these mean, context is key - so take a look at the full table comparison of dB-levels across all sex toys I've reviewed so far:
Material and Texture
Silicone on the insertable parts and ABS plastic for the shiny parts. These are widely considered as safe materials for sex toys, which are easy to clean π«§.
How It Feels
Inserting the Hugo 2 is good fun, it takes some teasing at first to be able to handle its width π. Once ready, it slides into place. Sliding in deeper, it gives a great surprise with its pressure on the prostate π² - it's a feeling you can't ignore.
I would have liked it to go a bit deeper for even more prostate pleasure, but it's already great as it is π₯°.
The remote control makes it fun for both my partner and me as the vibrations are unpredictable. The vibrations are more rumbly than buzzy which is a good thing. They feel strong without being overpowering. Combined with some of the vibration patterns, these will get you off.
Perineum stimulation
What can't be missed is, the perineum stimulation π! The vibration motor near the perineum is STRONG and rumbly! Lots of vibration goodness to be had.
I am a big fan of perineum stimulation β the area between the balls and anus, however in most toys the vibrations there don't do much for me. The Hugo 2 does it better, after a few sessions I am craving for that perineum stimulation the Hugo 2 gives! Well-targeted, rumbly and strong β the vibrations get into the deeper tissues, it's perfect.
Cleaning & Maintenance
As usual with silicone toys, use mild soap and rinse with warm water. The toy is waterproof, just make sure the cover on the charging port is closed. π«§
As for the remote, I recommend cleaning it in the same way but avoiding water going around the seams where the battery compartment opens.
Should you get it?
If you are searching for a
- Luxury prostate massager that reaches the right spot π
- With a vibrating remote control π³
- Sensemotion controls: use motion controls on the remote for controlling the vibrations
- Great for partner play and even public play π
Then go for it! Its price point is slightly higher than other toys, but considering its luxury finish and it includes a vibrating remote control with motion controls, this could be enough to justify the extra cost.
Who is it not for?
If you are looking for an
- app-controlled prostate massager
- If this is your requirement, check out the Hugo 2 without remote - that one is compatible with the Lelo app!
- that stays put even during heavy movements

Pricing
The Hugo 2 Remote comes in at 219USD/219EUR which is a rather high price, but then again, this is a luxurious prostate massager and that comes at a cost.
The Black Friday discount they have going at the time of writing sets the price to around 153USD/153EUR which is reasonable considering its luxury finish and vibrating motion-sensing remote control.
The Hugo 2 app-controlled butt plug comes in at 179USD/179EUR.
Summary
The Hugo 2 Remote is a solid, luxury butt plug with unique features β¨! While I wish the remote-controlled version were also compatible with the app, you could always get the app version of the Hugo 2 instead.
The remote control is neat. It adds extra intimacy, especially for playing with a partner, whether it is on the bed or in the park; it adds fun and excitement for both π. My partner sure had fun shaking it/me around π!
